 Research presentation feedback

  • nice layout
  • Overview
    • make keywords bold
  • Background
    • separation doesn't make sense here
    • stick to the background, nothing else (similar products, how are they used...)
  • Aims
    • measurable things, what are we going to give to our client
    • mostly talking about the app's functions (gamification, costs and benefits...)
    • what form of digital solution?
    • what the object is?
    • has meaning to the user
    • ->describe it better
  • Objectives
    • not "extensive" research
    • put them in the right order (research, design, prototype, testing, report)
    • how are we going to test it?
    • what research?
    • who's our target audience? - the key to the solution
    • avoid vague words (hopefully, probably...) -> we will be
  • Gamification
    • put more pictures (not clipart)
  • Other Applications
    • not an educational app - not what the user asked for
    • has to have meaning to the user
  • User Engagement - Other Methods
    • quality of the data, where's it from - remember the source
  • User Engagement - Other Methods
    • video chat, mind-map - why does our target audience needs to use it
    • ->design for the target audience
  • Smartwatches
    • picture visible on screen but not when projected -> more contrast
    • too much text
  • UI/UX
    • references Adobe, Google, Apple...
    • the shoe picture (interactions - you run, jump/they keep you warm...)
  • Different means of transport - health benefits
    • a lot of text
  • Google Maps vs Apple Maps
    • not everybody uses google maps
    • have a map integrated - one part of the interaction
    • image position/shape
    • don't do it for me, do it for yourself
    • if it's not right, change it
  • Carbon Footprint
    • how's it going to change your life?
    • carpooling - depends on the context
    • how to make it engaging, meaningful for users
    • sustainable clothes, rewards -> does that actually reduce carbon footprint?
  • Future developments
    • something to show - ideally a picture
  • Overall
    • good ideas, just the way going around is awkward (like archeologists)
    • how it will be exciting?
    • figure out who's your target audience - including car owners (35+)
    • understand the target group
    • students are in the target group too, but focus on the whole group
    • just like Harry Potter - written for kids but crosses over other age groups

Final Testing - Manus

Overview: In our last class meeting with Phil. We brought up that we were unsure of the customisable interests element to our app. Phil recommended that we do some last minute testing to see if people liked it. Participants: Sammy: Female 38 Joan: Female 61 Neil: Male 58 Rónán: Male 23 What were they shown: I explained the basic concept of the app to them and showed them my scribbles of the initial "which of these elements interest you" survey that would pop-up once you started the app for the first time. I got them to choose their interests and showed them their specific screens. We then went into some of the other features in depth. What did they think: Initially everyone liked the idea of the how personalised it was. Although Joan found it to be a bit confusing. After proceeding to the next screen the majority of opinions changed as the users wanted to see all of the. information. Not just the ones they had chosen. I tested the idea of the options being ranked but I realis...

Week 2-3 Research GAMIFICATION: Pokémon Go: Games such as Pokémon Go make users exercise by engaging them in capturing Pokémon by walking to locations in real life. This inspired people to walk/cycle to locations rather than drive which had multiple health benefits. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1875952121000082#:~:text=The%20results%20from%20our%20literature,reduced%20social%20anxiety%2C%20and%20openness. Zombies, Run!: This game engages you in exercise by telling you a compelling story through audio where you must run to certain areas to "collect" items to survive the zombie apocalypse. It is a fitness app that uses the storyline of a post-apocalyptic world where zombies are everywhere. It's another example of gamification that makes exercise fun, and more appealing than driving or taking public transport. https://blog.healthadvocate.com/2016/05/wellness-app-review-zombies-run/ CLIMATE APPS: NASA's Earth Now: NASA'...
